Jeep Wrangler JL & JLU Seat Covers (2018+)
Custom-fit seat covers for Jeep Wrangler JL and JLU 2018-2026, built by Bartact. The JL generation brought Jeep's most significant Wrangler interior redesign in years — wider seats, deeper bolsters, a new fold-flat rear bench in the JLU, and updated headrest post geometry. Bartact patterns each JL cover to these exact dimensions, not to an approximation or an updated JK template. A new pattern, measured from a JL seat, cut to JL specifications. Cordura 1000D nylon. Integrated MOLLE seat backs. Heated seat compatible, side airbag compatible. Made in Temecula, California.
Jeep Wrangler JL / JLU Fitment — 2018-2026, All Trims
Bartact builds JL seat covers for every Wrangler JL and JLU produced from the first model year through the current production run.
2018 Wrangler JL / JLU: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, Rubicon — first model year of the JL generation. Note: 2018 was a split year. Jeep produced both JK and JL in 2018. If your 2018 Wrangler has a rectangular-profile roll bar, it is a JL. If it has a round-tube roll bar, it is a JK.
2019 Wrangler JL / JLU: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, Rubicon — full model year, all trims compatible.
2020 Wrangler JL / JLU: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, Rubicon, Willys, Willys Sport — Willys trim introduced this year. Same seat geometry across all trims.
2021 Wrangler JL / JLU: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, Rubicon, Willys, Willys Sport, 4xe (JLU only), Black and Tan. The 4xe plug-in hybrid introduced as a JLU exclusively. Front seats identical to all other JL trims. Rear bench differs — see 4xe note below.
2022 Wrangler JL / JLU: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, Rubicon, Willys, 4xe, High Altitude, Rubicon 20th Anniversary. All trims compatible.
2023 Wrangler JL / JLU: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, Rubicon, Willys, 4xe, High Altitude — all trims compatible.
2024 Wrangler JL / JLU: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, Rubicon, Willys, 4xe, High Altitude — all trims compatible.
2025 and 2026 Wrangler JL / JLU: All current trim levels — fully compatible.
JLU 4xe rear bench — important: The Wrangler JLU 4xe (plug-in hybrid) front seats are mechanically identical to all other JL and JLU trims — front seat covers fit the 4xe without any modification. The 4xe rear bench is different. The battery pack under the rear floor changes the rear seat geometry enough that the standard JLU rear bench cover does not fit the 4xe correctly. Bartact builds a dedicated 4xe rear bench pattern. If you own a JLU 4xe, select the standard JL front covers and the dedicated 4xe rear bench cover at checkout.
Why the JL Is a Different Pattern — Not an Updated JK
The JL is a ground-up redesign. The seats are wider than the JK. The bolsters are deeper. The headrest post spacing and geometry changed. The JLU rear bench fold-flat mechanism was redesigned. None of these changes are cosmetic — they change the dimensional specifications that a seat cover pattern is built from.
Bartact does not attempt to adapt JK seat cover patterns to the JL. The JL pattern was built from scratch, measured from a JL seat, and cut to JL seat dimensions. The JK covers are a separate product. Using JK covers on a JL will result in bunching at the bolsters, gaps at the seat base, and headrest posts that don't align with the cover's post openings. Order the correct generation cover for your specific Wrangler.
Cordura 1000D — Built for JL Use Cases
The JL is Jeep's most capable factory Wrangler. Rubicon trim owners run them on trails that previous Wrangler generations couldn't navigate. Sport trim owners use them as daily drivers that double as trail rigs. In either use case, the seats take consistent abuse — trail mud, wet gear, sand, hiking equipment, work tools. Cordura 1000D is built for this.
Cordura 1000D is a 1,000 denier ballistic-weight nylon — the same material specification used in US military load-bearing equipment. Abrasion resistance at the seat bolsters and seat base — the points that fail on neoprene covers within 12-24 months of hard use. Water resistance that sheds rather than absorbs — critical on a vehicle that runs through water crossings and sits wet on trail. UV stability through seasons of topless driving. Dimensional shape retention through repeated use and washing.
Bartact also offers Cordura 400D — lighter-weight, same Cordura durability advantages, reduced material bulk. Both options use the same JL-specific pattern. The material choice depends on your use intensity.
MOLLE Seat Back Webbing
Every Bartact JL seat cover includes integrated MOLLE webbing panels on the front seat backs. MOLLE is the US military's modular attachment standard — parallel rows of heavy-duty nylon loops that accept any MOLLE-compatible accessory without drilling or permanent modification. First aid kits, tool pouches, hydration carriers, map cases, communications accessories — all attach directly to the seat back and can be rearranged or removed at any time. The JL's front seat backs are accessible from the rear seat, making seat back MOLLE storage particularly useful for rear passengers and trail situations where gear needs to be reachable from outside the vehicle.
Heated Seats and Side Airbag Compatibility
Factory heated seats are available on JL from Sahara trim up. Bartact covers allow full heat transfer through the Cordura fabric — factory settings work normally, no compensation needed. JL front seats include side-mounted curtain airbags on most trims. Bartact's JL covers include properly located airbag deployment seams specific to the JL's seat airbag geometry — not a generic airbag-compatible label, but engineered seam placement tested for the JL's specific seat airbag system. This is a safety engineering detail that generic and universal-fit covers frequently get wrong.
Custom-Cut Fit
Bartact JL seat covers are cut to the JL's actual seat dimensions — front seat bolsters, seat base geometry, headrest post spacing. The covers install cleanly, sit flat across the seat surface, and stay in position. They don't need elastic bands and hooks to hold them in place because they were designed to fit, not to be stretched to fit.
Made in USA — Berry Amendment Compliant
Every Bartact JL seat cover is sewn in Temecula, California. Cordura 1000D is sourced to US military specification. Berry Amendment compliant — US-origin materials, US manufacturing. Bartact is a manufacturer, not an importer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do Bartact JL seat covers fit the Wrangler 4xe?
A: Front covers fit all JL trims including 4xe — front seat geometry is identical. JLU 4xe rear bench is a different geometry due to battery packaging under the floor — select the dedicated 4xe rear bench cover at checkout for the rear seat.
Q: What years does this fit?
A: All Wrangler JL (2-door) and JLU (4-door Unlimited) from 2018 through 2026. All trim levels, including 4xe, Willys, and High Altitude editions.
Q: Are these compatible with heated seats and airbags?
A: Yes. Full heated seat heat transfer through Cordura fabric. Airbag deployment seams are properly located for the JL's specific seat-mounted side airbag geometry.
Q: Why are JL and JK seat covers different products?
A: The JL is a ground-up redesign with different seat dimensions — wider seats, deeper bolsters, different headrest geometry. Bartact builds each generation from a separate pattern. Do not substitute JK covers for a JL or vice versa.
Q: Are these MOLLE compatible?
A: Yes. Integrated MOLLE webbing on front seat backs, compatible with standard PALS-compatible pouches and accessories from any manufacturer.

Choosing the Right Configuration for Your JL Build
The JL Wrangler is produced across a wide range of trim levels and use cases — from the Sport as a daily driver to the Rubicon as a purpose-built rock crawler. Seat cover selection should match your use intensity and configuration.
For a JL used regularly on trail with rock crawling, mud, and water crossings, Cordura 1000D is the correct specification. The 1,000 denier ballistic-weight material provides maximum abrasion resistance at the seat bolsters and seat base — the contact points that take the most abuse when occupants brace against trail movement and when wet gear enters and exits the vehicle. Under hard trail use, Cordura 1000D will outlast neoprene alternatives by two to three times. The investment is recovered in not replacing neoprene covers every 18-24 months.
For a JL used primarily on road with occasional trail use, Cordura 400D provides the same material advantages at reduced weight and thickness. 400 denier Cordura is still significantly more abrasion-resistant and UV-stable than neoprene or polyester. For a daily-driver JL that sees trail on weekends but not hard-use trail, 400D is a reasonable choice that provides Cordura's durability characteristics at a lighter material weight.
The 4xe configuration requires specific attention to rear seat ordering. This cannot be overstated: the front seats are identical between 4xe and all other JL/JLU trims. A 4xe owner ordering front covers should simply order standard JL front covers for their trim level. The rear bench is where the 4xe diverges — the battery pack under the rear floor changes the rear seat profile enough that the standard JLU rear bench cover doesn't fit the 4xe. Order the dedicated 4xe rear bench cover. This is one of the most common ordering errors for 4xe owners, and it's easily avoided by reading the product page carefully and confirming your rear configuration at checkout.
MOLLE configuration for JL owners typically centers on the driver and passenger seat backs, which are accessible to rear-seat passengers on the JLU and from outside the vehicle on trail. The JL's fold-forward front seats on the JLU configuration make the seat back MOLLE accessible from behind the front seat row — an important configuration advantage for rear passengers on trail.
Berry Amendment and Why US Manufacturing Matters
Bartact's seat covers meet Berry Amendment compliance standards. The Berry Amendment is a US law requiring the Department of Defense to procure American-made goods — specifically US-origin materials processed in US facilities. Bartact manufactures to this standard by design: Cordura fabric sourced to US military specification from US suppliers, cut and sewn in California. This compliance standard is not marketing language — it is a manufacturing commitment that affects how Bartact sources materials and operates its production facility. For Jeep owners who care about American manufacturing, it is a meaningful distinction from brands that design in the US and manufacture offshore.
Why Bartact JL Seat Covers Hold Up Where Others Don't
Most seat cover brands use universal-fit templates and call it a day. Bartact engineers every JL seat cover pattern from scratch using the actual Jeep Wrangler JL seat foam geometry. That means no bunching around the headrest posts, no slipping on the seat bolsters, and no fighting the fabric every time you get in or out. The fit is exact because the pattern was built exact. Cordura 400D and 1000D fabric is sourced domestically and cut in Temecula, California — Berry Amendment compliant and built to the same standard as US military gear. That's not a marketing claim. It's a manufacturing choice Bartact made on day one and hasn't walked back since.
