Jeep redesigned the Wrangler seat geometry with each major generation change. The JL is not an updated JK. The JK is not an updated TJ. Jeep Wrangler JL / JLU — 2018-2026 — All Trims
The JL generation launched in 2018 as Jeep's most significant Wrangler redesign in over a decade. The seats are wider and feature deeper bolsters than the JK. The JLU 4-door rear bench has an updated fold-flat mechanism. The headrest post geometry changed. None of this is compatible with JK seat cover patterns, and Bartact does not attempt to bridge the gap with a universal fit — the JL gets its own dedicated pattern.

The JLU 4xe is an important note for current owners. The Wrangler JLU 4xe (plug-in hybrid) uses front seats with geometry identical to all other JL and JLU trims — front seat covers fit the 4xe without any modification. The 4xe rear bench is a different story. The battery pack under the rear floor changes the rear seat geometry enough that the standard JLU rear bench cover does not fit the 4xe correctly. The JK ran from 2007 through 2018 — a twelve-year production run with remarkably consistent seat geometry throughout.
